Growing up, one of the most exciting parts of the Christmas season was looking forward to receiving my Uncle Bernie's annual Christmas card. Bernie was a tremendously talented artist, accomplished in landscape, architecture, and illustration; and every year, he would illustrate a new design, often a whimsical scene of cats.
I decided to carry on this tradition myself, opting instead for cardinals. Rather than using his means of stippling his black and white scenes, I have chosen to take a different illustrative approach each year, with the intention of using the card's design as a way of capturing where I find myself as an artist at that point in time.
2020 wasn't real 🤷‍♂️
